What is type 2 diabetes?
Type 2 diabetes is a common condition that causes the level of sugar (glucose) in the blood to become too high. It can cause symptoms like excessive thirst, needing to pee a lot and tiredness. Many people have no symptoms. It increases your risk of getting serious problems with your eyes, feet, heart and nerves.
What is diabetes mellitus?
Diabetes mellitus is a serious condition where your blood glucose level is too high. Find out what causes it, and what the different types of diabetes are.
How many people in England have diabetes?
Currently over three million people are living with diabetes in England and estimates suggest that that number is expected to rise to 4.2 million people by 2030, affecting almost 9% of the population. It is also estimated that around five million people in England are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
