Fluocinolone ophthalmic (for the eye) implant is a steroid medicine that is used to treat diabetic macular edema, a build-up of fluid in the retina that is caused by leaking blood vessels. Iluvien is also used to treat posterior uveitis, inflammation that affects the back of the eye.
How long does ILUVIEN last?
ILUVIEN is designed to release a continuous, low dose treatment to the retina for up to 36 months. Your eye doctor will still want to see you periodically to monitor your condition and watch for the development of cataracts, eye infection (endophthalmitis), eye inflammation, increased eye pressure, glaucoma, and retinal detachments.

You have been prescribed ILUVIEN to help improve your damaged vision or stop it from getting worse.
