Why is nutrition important to a healthy child?

Healthy children learn better. People with adequate nutrition are more productive and can create opportunities to gradually break the cycles of poverty and hunger. Malnutrition, in every form, presents significant threats to human health.

Is nutrition for kids the same as nutrition for adults?

Here's a quick overview. Nutrition for kids is based on the same ideas as nutrition for adults. Everyone needs the same types of things, such as vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, protein and fat. These are called nutrients. Children need different amounts of specific nutrients at different ages.

Do children have a right to nutrition?

Every child has the right to nutrition. And today, the need for diets, services and practices that protect, promote and support good nutrition has never been greater. Since 2000, the world has reduced the proportion of children under 5 suffering from undernutrition by one third and the number of undernourished children by 55 million.
