Understanding Medical Therapies
Medical Therapies FAQ
What is medical therapy?
Medical therapy describes taking medications for treatment of a condition like heart disease. Medical therapy is almost always recommended - in combination with a nutritious diet, exercise and no smoking - to improve your heart health and quality of life.
What is the difference between therapy and medical treatment?
A therapy or medical treatment is the attempted remediation of a health problem, usually following a medical diagnosis. Both words, treatment and therapy, are often abbreviated tx, Tx, or Tx . As a rule, each therapy has indications and contraindications. There are many different types of therapy. Not all therapies are effective.
What is therapy & how can it help me?
The eventual aim of therapy is to teach you to apply the skills you have learnt during treatment to your daily life. This should help you manage your problems and stop them having a negative impact on your life, even after your course of treatment finishes.
What are talking therapies?
Talking therapies, or psychological therapies, are effective and confidential treatments delivered by fully trained and accredited NHS practitioners. They can help if you're struggling with things like feelings of depression, excessive worry, social anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
