Is Victoza a liraglutide?
Victoza, a formulation of liraglutide used in diabetes, is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in patients ≥10 years old with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is also indicated to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in adult patients with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease. 7
Can Saxenda be used with liraglutide?
Victoza is not for treating type 1 diabetes. The Saxenda brand of liraglutide is used together with diet and exercise to help people lose weight when they have certain health conditions. Saxenda is not for treating type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Do not use Saxenda and Victoza together.
What is liraglutide injection (Saxenda)?
Liraglutide injection (Saxenda) is used along with a reduced calorie diet and exercise plan to help certain adults and children 12 years of age and older who weigh 132 pounds (60 kg) or more and who are obese or who are overweight and have weight-related medical problems to lose weight and to keep from gaining back that weight.
What are the side effects of liraglutide?
Liraglutide may cause serious side effects. Call your doctor at once if you have: dehydration symptoms--feeling very thirsty or hot, being unable to urinate, heavy sweating, or hot and dry skin; low blood sugar --headache, hunger, sweating, irritability, dizziness, fast heart rate, and feeling anxious or shaky;
What is liraglutide used for?
It is used in addition to other antidiabetic medicines. Liraglutide, in the brand Saxenda®, can also be used to manage obesity and weight loss together with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical exercise. This leaflet is written for people using liraglutide for diabetes.
Is liraglutide a biological medicine?

What is Victoza liraglutide used for?
The Victoza brand of liraglutide is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults and children at least 10 years old who have type 2 diabetes mellitus. Victoza is also used to help reduce the risk of serious heart problems such as heart attack or stroke in adults who have type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
Is there a generic version of liraglutide?
There is currently no generic version of liraglutide but it is available under the brand name Victoza. Note: In general, seniors or children, people with certain medical conditions (such as liver or kidney problems, heart disease, diabetes, seizures) or people who take other medications are more at risk of developing a wider range of side effects.
